May 2005 Artist, Jean Satterfield

This is the second time I have been artist of the month.  Thanks, Claire, for your belief in me.  I started stamping many years ago when I lived in California and I cut up kitchen sponges and used paint to stamp on my walls.  Didn't know about rubber then.  I found coloring books with rubber stamps and pads to stamp in and tell a story for my grandchildren.  They had great fun with them.  Then one time I was here visiting my mom and she took me to Stamp Augustine and Claire's where I was introduced to rubber stamping for adults and I fell in love.  Didn't do much about it at the time, but when I moved back to St. Augustine, I found myself in Claire's more and more.  So now I have a room totally dedicated to rubber stamping.  Since I've retired, my husband and I started taking dance lessons and we go dancing all the time now, so I don't get as much stamping done as I'd like.  But I find time to keep the birthday cards going and go to as many conventions as I can.  I thought I'd share some techniques I've learned over the years and since this is May and Mother's Day month I added a few cards I've made my Mom.

Hope you enjoy them as much as I did making them!

These Trading Cards have been done with punches, stickers, brads, eyelets, and a little stamping.

The purses were made from a template, stamped, colored and beaded.  I used them as souvenirs at a birthday party for my Mom.

Background brayered with multicolored pad and stamped and embossed then the mother and daughter were cut out and placed on pop dots.

This was done with Window Works.  Flat backed beads, flowers, lace and other embellishments glued on.

Stamped butterfly on card stock and cut out.  Used the stencil to make shadow and colored with a sponge dipped in ink pads.  Glitter glue was added on the wings.
